The Mirage Sense and Sensibility stars Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood, and Kate Winslet as Marianne. Although Emma Thompson, at thirty-six, is considerably older than the nineteen-year-old Elinor, she conveys the air of maturity which the role requires. Kate Winslet, who first appeared on the big screen as a murderous teenager in Heavenly Creatures (1994), is convincing as the seventeen-year-old Marianne in Sense and Sensibility.
